I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned how much I love Red Robin #12. The final showdown between Tim and Ra’s, the challenge of trying to save eleven people that Bruce loves. Dick and Tim. All the cameos. Marcus To. There are just so many things I love about this issue.

So not many people know this but I was in the running to pencil Superboy for the New 52 but didn’t get the gig, but I did do this splash of the last page I think of Superboy #1 to send to the editor which Scott Lobdell asked that I do. I think it came out ok, would have been a fun character to work on but alas it was not to be.
I would never understand what the hell’s wrong with DC’s head.

We need to hear more stories like this in the news:
Julio Diaz has a daily routine. Every night, the 31-year-old social worker ends his hour-long subway commute to the Bronx one stop early, just so he can eat at his favorite diner.
But one night last month, as Diaz stepped off the No. 6 train and onto a nearly empty platform, his evening took an unexpected turn.
He was walking toward the stairs when a teenage boy approached and pulled out a knife.
“He wants my money, so I just gave him my wallet and told him, ‘Here you go,’” Diaz says.
As the teen began to walk away, Diaz told him, “Hey, wait a minute. You forgot something. If you’re going to be robbing people for the rest of the night, you might as well take my coat to keep you warm.”
The would-be robber looked at his would-be victim, “like what’s going on here?” Diaz says. “He asked me, ‘Why are you doing this?’”
Diaz replied: “If you’re willing to risk your freedom for a few dollars, then I guess you must really need the money. I mean, all I wanted to do was get dinner and if you really want to join me … hey, you’re more than welcome.
“You know, I just felt maybe he really needs help,” Diaz says.
Diaz says he and the teen went into the diner and sat in a booth.
“The manager comes by, the dishwashers come by, the waiters come by to say hi,” Diaz says. “The kid was like, ‘You know everybody here. Do you own this place?’”
“No, I just eat here a lot,” Diaz says he told the teen. “He says, ‘But you’re even nice to the dishwasher.’”
Diaz replied, “Well, haven’t you been taught you should be nice to everybody?”
“Yea, but I didn’t think people actually behaved that way,” the teen said.
Diaz asked him what he wanted out of life. “He just had almost a sad face,” Diaz says.
The teen couldn’t answer Diaz — or he didn’t want to.
When the bill arrived, Diaz told the teen, “Look, I guess you’re going to have to pay for this bill ‘cause you have my money and I can’t pay for this. So if you give me my wallet back, I’ll gladly treat you.”
The teen “didn’t even think about it” and returned the wallet, Diaz says. “I gave him $20 … I figure maybe it’ll help him. I don’t know.”
Diaz says he asked for something in return — the teen’s knife — “and he gave it to me.”
Afterward, when Diaz told his mother what happened, she said, “You’re the type of kid that if someone asked you for the time, you gave them your watch.”
“I figure, you know, if you treat people right, you can only hope that they treat you right. It’s as simple as it gets in this complicated world.”
I would like to give this guy a hug
…if only real life worked like this more often.
Why shouldn’t real life work like this more often?

The first time Tim wore the Red Robin cowl, it was because of this burn from being caught in an explosion. This was also another moment in which Tim became even more unhinged and distrustful of others because of Stephanie Brown’s…
ALL OF THIS.
Regarding Bruce-Steph ‘conspiracy’, it’s been brought up and I agree every bit of it (those are… ouch storyline to begin with). Those two were playing with Tim’s life. Really Bruce, Steph?

One thing really dislike of the whole ‘Birth of Dick-Bats, Psycho-Robin and Emo-RedRobin’ is how the cape was handed. It’s not handed. It’s ripped. By Dick. THAT DICK, Tim’s childhood hero, bestest big bro, the only one (beside Alfred, but it’s entirely different thing) he could rely on at that time. Yet what did he do? I can understand Dick’s decision, tough. It’s actually really reasonable and maybe the most right decision to take Dami under his wing. BUT YOU DONE IT WRONG, DICK. Robin is Batman’s. Right. But you, of all people, should be understand how it feels to be ‘fired’. Not to mention the whole fiasco-turmoil of lost, betrayal & uncertainties the original owner of the cape had, then the ‘last stability’ Tim had now is handed to someone who’s trying to kill him & had done ‘unthinkable’ things for him. At least you should do something to make it work, other than distrust him by thinking “Whatever I say he wouldn’t agree with this so it’s better like this”. Or implicitly telling the boy that he’s a delusional freak. Dick are.you.freakin.serious.

Just FYI it’s one of the reason I don’t really dig DickBats/DamiRobin duo (and the fact that Dami is sucha asshole those times lol). The fact he’s just put Tim on a bus gives me mixed feelings about the pair.

But I can’t help to think it’s so OOC for Dick of all people don’t consider Tim’s feelings/position here. Even if it’s just a misunderstanding (or only because the writers want it to happen tough, it happens & had happened). But what the hell are those hate for his emo-ness? If Dick & DAMIAN can be justified why not Tim? Moreso they all, Dick, Bruce, Steph, ALL, (including Tim himself. Oh my.) justifies the whole thing by saying that’s just a way for him to grow up. After remembering how “He was once a sweet kid with high morals, a good yet oblivious boyfriend, loyal to his father’s wishes, devoted to being Batman’s Robin” like aionyu said, remembering what he’d been trough, and seeing how he’s now; WHAT A WAY TO GROW UP, I dare say. Tough I don’t say it’s a character derailment really, cos even before all of this, we already could picture Tim being ‘evil Batman’. But it’s just… unfortunate for him. That’s what I think hmmm.

Regarding Damian. I don’t hate Dami. I like. Like. The kid. Asshole, but gets better. FAR better (not that far really but yea). But that doesn’t mean I would say those horrible things he’d done is right. Sure he ‘don’t understand those are wrong cos he’s raised like that and he’s just ten’ (like everybody said). But I won’t disregard him by not consider him as a really really mature ten year old and doing a good job ‘maturing & learn to control himself’. Sure Tim is the older one, but looking what the kid had done, I don’t think someone like Tim would see it as just a kid’s prank (which is really aren’t). If you ask me, Dami is the wrong party here by starting it and downright disrespect Tim. While Tim, after all of this craziness ceased down like now (I mean just before the reboot, you know what I mean) should really start to see Damian as he is now and accept, how suck this is, he’s Robin now & his lil bro.

Even so, I don’t think their relationship would ever smooth tho. Damian’s brash, inconsiderate morals, not trying to be good but being awesomely good nonetheless, irritate Tim while Tim’s introverted, complexity, deep-thinking, and paranoid personality annoys the hell out of Damian. Lol XD

But like anything relate to Bat-family (or the whole blessed Gotham City), it’s not that easy to just determine ‘He’s the right one, so the other party is supposed to be the wrong one’. Or ‘Anything he’s done isn’t wrong because bla bla bla so whoever being jerk about it is a real jerkass’. Aah the grey world of Gotham.

Whether or not they just know Tim from RR or Dick’s B&R, what I could say to them whose say Tim’s a jerk (except the one who’s not fond of him from the very start cos he’s him, they I could relate XP) is:
